The food is magnificent. I can confidently recommend the hotel as an excellent place to stop off for Sunday lunch or afternoon tea on the veranda as well as more formal affairs.

The Sunday dinner was so good that I am not going to elaborate other than to say I have not eaten one as good. My partner and myself found Plas Maenan second to none in every regard and would not hesitate to recommend it.
The meals were absolutely excellent – very generous portions of delicious food, served with great efficiency by charming and friendly staff. I felt as though I had returned to a more elegant age – with me as the most important guest!
Five of us went for Sunday lunch. The welcome and the service given were attentive. The food was cooked perfectly and the presentation would have scored high on Master Chef!
Dining
Our award-winning restaurant serves traditional food with a contemporary twist and with an emphasis on fresh local and seasonal produce, clear flavours and careful presentation. All of the meat, fish, cheese and eggs used in our kitchens can be traced to source and we have the coveted gold award for kitchen hygiene – one of very few such awards in the area.
The Small Dining Room
The Small Dining Room is open for lunch and dinner Tuesday to Saturday. The lunchtime menu always offers a good choice of dishes and extremely good value. Vegetables are served separately and the menu changes every week. It is not essential to book at lunchtimes but it is advisable to check before setting out in case we are closed for a wedding celebration.

Dinner in the evening is evocative of the Edwardian era, with candle-lit tables and butler service. The welcome is warm and service is friendly and courteous. Our impressive evening menu changes with the seasons and the style is classical and traditional, usually with an interesting twist. Guests can enjoy pre-dinner drinks in the elegant lounge or, weather permitting, on the veranda. Booking is essential for evening dining.

The Orchid Conservatory
From March to October the conservatory, with its spectacular mountain views, is an option of choice for both lunchtime and evening diners. The menus are the same but the atmosphere is a little more informal, with polished granite tables and delightful displays of our home grown orchids to admire during your meal.
Light lunches
Our light lunch menu provides a snack option at lunchtimes, such as soup and various sandwiches including a hot roast sandwich of the day served with chips and/or salad. Light lunches can be augmented with a dessert from the lunch menu and are served in the lounge, in the bar by the fire in the winter, on the veranda in the summer or in the orchid conservatory.
Morning coffee – afternoon tea
We are open Tuesday-Saturday for morning coffee, served with our delicious home-made shortbread, and for tea in the afternoon from 3 pm. You can enjoy the tea of your choice accompanied by a warm scone or a toasted teacake or indulge yourself with our celebrated full afternoon tea at £9.95 per person.
Orchid lecture teas
Our orchid lecture teas are held every Wednesday from February to April. There is a talk and a demonstration on the care and cultivation of orchids, followed by full afternoon tea in the Music Room. You are welcome to bring your ailing plants for repotting or advice. 3 pm to 5.30 pm. £12.50 per person. Party rates on application. Booking is advisable.
Sunday lunch
You will receive a warm welcome for your Sunday lunch in the Music Room, and your meal will be accompanied by our regular harpist or pianist. Our roast beef is famous, and our dessert trolley is absolutely irresistible! In summer you can lunch in the conservatory if you wish. Booking is advisable.
Private parties & functions
Plas Maenan is a popular venue for functions and private parties, large or small. We have four dining rooms available for private use and we can accommodate private parties from 10 to 85 people.
